Referee Payments

Payment Procedures

TSA pays the referees for their services by Venmo after submitting the full game report/rosters and any supplemental reports electronically.  Expect payment within 48 hours. 

  • 11v11  (two 45-minute halves, following our time structure) 3 man crew 

    • Center Referee $65

    • Assistant Referee $45

  • 6v6 (two 25-minute halves) Single Referee $50

  • 8v8 (two 35-minute halves) Single Referee $55

Adjusted Payment Policy for Game Cancellations

  • Canceled game 1 hour prior: NO PAY

  • Canceled game after 1 hour prior:

    • If due to weather (or out of our control like electrical issues with lights) $10 PER REFEREE (not subsequent 2nd and 3rd games)

    • If game starts and is not finished because of weather - FULL PAY NOTE: if referee cancels game due to weather - no pay - Only City of Tallahassee or Board Member may cancel a game due to weather to receive pay

    • Cancellations due to team forfeits at the field (after 10-minute grace period):  FULL PAY

Game Procedures

Before

  • Referee crews should arrive at the fields 30 minutes before game time.

  • Referees will check teams in with roster hardcopy or electronic. Must have documentation of pickups (name and FASA player ID) on the game report if electronic. Pickups must show FASA player ID if requested. 

  • Communicate with captains and players prior to scheduled game time to encourage players to take the field by scheduled game time.

11v11 Rules

Duration of the Match: 

  • Clock starts when the ball is kicked and moved. 

  • Each half shall have three 15-minute periods and two water breaks. The clock does not run during our water break and get added to the end, as the three periods should be relatively even in length. If the game is shortened (due to weather/field availability/etc.) the water breaks should continue to divide the half into 3 even periods (For example, 30 minute halves would allow for 10 minutes of play)

  • Rather than a 15-minute half, per LotG, our half is five minutes to account for two 3-minute water breaks each half. (17 minutes for half & water, consistent with traditional games with 45 minute halves in IFAB LotG).

  • If you’ve made an effort to get players to return to the field, time may resume after the 3-minute water break before the ball is in play.

  • Allowance per time lost is made either at the end of each half or 15-minute period.  

 

Disciplinary Action: Any player who is cautioned (yellow card) will be suspended from play. The player may return to play after the next water break or halftime. 

 

Substitution Procedure: Limited to water breaks and halftime with an exception for the following instances: injured and cautioned players shall be substituted any time play is stopped by the referee.

6v6 Rules

Disciplinary Action: Any player who is cautioned (yellow card) will be suspended from play. Cautioned players must sub off immediately and remain subbed off for 5 minutes or until the end of the current half, whichever occurs first.
